ECMO Saves Ocean Grove Man After Christmas Eve Cardiac Emergency

When Ocean Grove resident Glyn Davison blacked out while driving on Christmas Eve, his life changed in an instant. Rushed to University Hospital Geelong (UHG) in severe heart failure, his organs were beginning to shut down. Thanks to the local ECMO team, Glyn was placed on ECMO, a life-support system that temporarily takes over the work of the heart, stabilising him long enough to be safely transferred to The Alfred Hospital for a life-saving heart transplant.
